Accounts
Accounts are the foundation of your financial tracking in Plutus. Each account represents a real-world financial account.
Account Groups
Section titled “Account Groups”Plutus organizes accounts into four groups:

Adding An Account
Section titled “Adding An Account”Connect through a supported provider
Section titled “Connect through a supported provider”- Start the bank connection flow
- Choose your institution
- Complete secure authorization
- Select which accounts to link
- Wait for the initial sync

Add manually
Section titled “Add manually”- Navigate to Accounts
- Click Add Account
- Select the account group and type
- Enter the account name and starting balance
- Click Save
Account Detail Page
Section titled “Account Detail Page”Click on any account to view:
- Current balance and balance history chart
- Transaction list with account-specific filters and search
- Running balance column showing the balance after each transaction
Account Properties
Section titled “Account Properties”Each account type has specialized properties:
- Debt accounts — Interest rate, monthly payment, credit limit, payment due day
- Investment accounts — Investment subtype, cost basis
- Physical assets — Purchase price, asset subtype
Account Views
Section titled “Account Views”The Accounts page offers two view modes:
- List view — Compact rows grouped by account group
- Card view — Visual cards with balance and sparkline charts
Accounts can be sorted by name, type, or balance. Use the filter options to show or hide closed accounts.
Member Assignment
Section titled “Member Assignment”Each account can be assigned to a specific Workspace member via the owner field. This helps track who owns which accounts in shared Workspaces.
Budget Tracking
Section titled “Budget Tracking”Accounts have a “Track for Budget” toggle. Cash and Debt accounts are tracked by default; Investments and Physical Assets are not. Only tracked accounts affect budget calculations.
Closing Accounts
Section titled “Closing Accounts”Accounts that are no longer active can be closed. Closed accounts and their transactions are preserved but hidden from default views. Toggle “Show closed accounts” to see them.
